This coffee variety has a tradition of being grown under scrutinous conditions, but well-regulated farming practices. Local farmers refrain from using chemical pesticides and fertilizers, which results in a cup that is bold without an overly bitter aftertaste.

Gayo Mountain coffee is also certified organic and fair-trade, and profits are used to empower local communities and fund education.

These beans are roasted until the second crack stage, which produces a refreshing medium-dark roast that is sweeter and less bitter than other coffee strains.
